How Do You Answer That?

Here are three that stumped me, as asked by my daughter. There are some things that a six year old just doesn't need to know!!

How would you have answered?

"Mommy are (army) tanks real? What do they do?"

"Mommy, I understand why bums are private 'cause poop is yucky, but why are boobs private?"

"But Mommy, how does the sperm get to the egg to make the baby?"

For the tanks question I clumsily stammered some inappropriate response about shooting something or other and then quickly changed the subject, and for the boobs and babies question I told her she wasn't old enough to know. What would you have said?

I have no better answers.

Yesterday, my friend and I were having lunch together with our 4-year-old daughters. My friend is pregnant, and I have a 7-month-old. Our 'big' kids announced that they knew how babies get out, but they wanted to know how they got in.

We mumbled something about a seed in the mom's tummy and changed the subject. Luckily it worked (at least for that moment).

LOL oh I know. With my six year old I was able to explain that the Mom contributes an egg and the Dad contributes a sperm (that's how kids look like both parents, etc etc), but then when she asked how the sperm got to the egg, I think I might have I asked her if she wanted some ice cream or something... lol

I think I would have stood there dumbstruck or started laughing. Luckily I don't have to deal with those questions. I'm sure someday I will though.
